Biography – Commander Larry A. Washington, Sr.

Charles R. Anderson American Legion Post 360
Commander Larry A. Washington, Sr. was born and raised in Warrenton, VA. He was educated in Fauquier County Schools. He entered the US Army on March 13, 1968, where his service took him to Viet Nam and earned him the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged with the rank of PFC on March 31, 1970.
Commander Washington joined Lieutenant Charles R. Anderson American Legion Post 360 in 2005. He first served as Post Adjutant under Commander John Williams, and ultimately succeeded Commander Williams as Post Commander in 2011.
American Legion Post 360 has become actively involved in several community events under Commander Washington’s leadership, including:
Donations of audio-visual equipment and school supplies to Head Start and Claude Thompson Elementary School
Awarded JROTC Scholarships
Donation of Thanksgiving meals to the needy
Hosting an annual fundraising concert and community recognition program
Fundraising for needy veterans through Poppy Stands on Memorial and Veterans Day
Participation in annual Juneteenth celebration
American Legion Post 360 meets at 7 PM the third Thursday of each month at the Warrenton Community Center. Before his tenure is up, Commander Washington hopes to secure a permanent home for the Post.
